He came to the conclusion that heroin, etc. aren't necessarily addictive. He started with an old rat study that had a rat in a cage with two sources of water. One pure water and the other laced with heroin. The rat ended up drinking only from the heroin laced water and then died. From this people concluded that heroin is addictive. He redid the study with a group of rats who had a playground and again the two water choices. This group ended up not drinking the laced water at all. Conclusion: Their environment - companions, things to do - was pleasant, where-as the sole rat had a better environment via laced water and chose it.
To back up his claim, the professor saw that Vietnam vets addicted to heroin while at war, stopped taking heroin when they got back to their better environment and didn't become a problem which was a big concern. Anyway, if the demand for drugs stopped, the drug "problems" would disappear. People who don't live in fear ( ie. fear of living a stressful life ) wouldn't choose drugs as an escape. People living in love wouldn't need to escape anything ??? LOL.

He eliminated the drug crime gang culture in record time with the bare minimum of resources. El Salvador was basically the murder capital of the world. Shocking success. In contrast the US of A has had a War on Drugs for how many decades - DECADES, with no visible success. And, the US or A has all the resources in the world and could have solved this problem in less time than Bukele, if so desired. In reality, Bukele shows the World that the US of A doesn't want to solve the drug cartel problem, doesn't want to win the so-called War on Drugs........It's so hypocritical, beyond imagination. More tax dollars gone to waste, for decades. No wonder there's almost complete silence about Bukele's accomplishments and even some condemnation of him. Imagine that. Oh wait, I forgot, we're on Planet Normal, and on Planet Normal fear rules. People who try to live a life of love, on the other hand are killed.....Ob-la-da, ob-la-di, life goes on brah.......All our "problems" could be solved, poof, if we just learned to live in love and not fear. That's the core issue that needs addressing. Start with our children.....
Not only do they not want to solve the drug problem, they started it and continue it, because it serves many social engineering purposes. For example, vetrans with their skills of arms use and ability to mobilize could be a powerful force in any country, potentially against the government, if a large slice of them weren't brought to their knees by addiction. Homes wouldn't be broken and mind control wouldn't be nearly as easy. Not to mention the money that finds its way directly to their coffers.
Helen, the drug problem began in the 60's and 70's. The war in Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia. For what OPIUM & RUBBER. When that dried up Afghanistan and now Syria. It will never stop. These are familial businesses that have been embedded into our world through centuries. Unfortunately, I read a book back in the 80's written by James Mills. The Underground Empire: Where Crime & Governments Embrace. This sort of examines the problems of Corruption and Compromise.
Well you and Helen aren't at odds it seems to me. I'm reminded of a Columbia Univ. professor who came from Harlem and investigated drug "addiction". He came to the conclusion that heroin, etc. aren't necessarily addictive. He started with an old rat study that had a rat in a cage with two sources of water. One pure water and the other laced with heroin. The rat ended up drinking only from the heroin laced water and then died. From this people concluded that heroin is addictive. He redid the study with a group of rats who had a playground and again the two water choices. This group ended up not drinking the laced water at all. Conclusion: Their environment - companions, things to do - was pleasant, where-as the sole rat had a better environment via laced water and chose it.
To back up his claim, the professor saw that Vietnam vets addicted to heroin while at war, stopped taking heroin when they got back to their better environment and didn't become a problem which was a big concern. Anyway, if the demand for drugs stopped, the drug "problems" would disappear. People who don't live in fear ( ie. fear of living a stressful life ) wouldn't choose drugs as an escape. People living in love wouldn't need to escape anything ??? LOL.

And, probably for longer than you can remember. LOL. Not to make light of it, though. But, I try to keep what Bill Hicks used to say, " It's just a ride ". I suppose if one takes it all too seriously, one isn't allowed to notice what doesn't make one's brow furrow; or, to figure out ways to either solve the problem and/or not be harmed by it.
Until you LOCK THEM ALL UP. Then it stops. SEE El Salvatore. See Peru and shinning path.... LOCK THEM UP and THROW AWAY the key. Too dangerous to have them running around. Follow up with support to the regular people.. and their needs. Problem 'goes away'. Problems are money makers, take away the money and influence and away goes the problem... simple really. No corruption? No crime, no problems...
Well, locking them up is speaking Planet Normal language - the language of fear. Which, as long as Planet Normal continues, works, communicates ( ie. fear of punishment as motivation. ) This really doesn't solve anything. What happens if or when the threat of punishment diminishes ? Or, how do the criminals find new ways around being punished ? The solution and only real solution is for people to learn to live in love not fear. As long as we remain living in fear, no system will work. There's always a way around any system, except absolute domination, control. Total fear. Which gets us to the core issue - continue to live in fear and end up at the extreme, total oppression; or, learn to live in love and end up at the opposite extreme - total freedom. That's been the "spiritual" battle all along, forever it seems. ( How I currently "see" it. LOL. )
