To what purpose would holding onto and not disclosing the documents serve? It would seem it gives the nefarious time to root out anyone she has shared the documents with and secure and/or destroy that info. How to expose those documents in a way that reaches the most people quickly is the question.
I wouldn't like to have to instruct a solicitor in these circumstances. Whether you get one who's on your side is going to be pure chance, with not high odds - and that's just at the outset. It does seem to be be very odd advice. I'll guess it may be because they are technically stolen but that seems pretty moot since I imagine possession of evidence is covered by whistleblower protection legislation. Besides, wouldn't their publication protect the client? The only other thing that crosses my mind is that maybe they're protecting against the possibility that Pfizer claims the documents are forgeries.

Within the context that Pharma are bound to set up a series of "controlled" whistleblower cases just so they can blow them out in the court setting, I think her hanging onto the docs for 2.5 years is definitely sus. I'm also going to throw in the fact that she's a committed Christian and that little rant about not being locked up for 10 years as a tinfoil hatter. If this is a setup then being a Christian is almost a must-have for the protagonist's profile.
