Everyone on Eastern LI has propane for their stoves and you can open your oven to heat your space, in a pinch (you need matches) and they also use either oil or gas to heat their homes but those systems are connected to electric power – so they need backup power.
I was shocked that grocery stores and gas stations in NC didn’t have backup generators, like in NY & FL but now, I realize that *I* have to have backup power, too!
If I owned a home, I would also get an efficient wood-burning stove for heating. My apartment here does have a fireplace, so I’m looking at ways to exploit that.
I do regard what happened here as a rehearsal and I’m getting ready for the Big One.

You can get adapters that will allow you to fill large cylinders at fuel stations, you need to learn what to do to be safe with that, mostly don't overfill! Also, you can get cheap multi-wick cooking stoves that run on diesel (or Paraffin/Kerosene), very low tech, perfect! Lifestraw water filters are about £25 on Amazon. I bought a load of candles last month too (Ikea, non-toxic - allegedly!) Be well, Keep adapting! :)

Actually, the butane isn't frozen, it just stops vapourising at about -2 celsius, so until you get it warmer it doesn't come out as gas. If you are staying-put you can have more options available, and several options for achieving the same goal. I have a mains gas cooker, electric hob, portable wick type diesel/kerosene cooker, and several camping gas/liquid pressure stoves. I have fire places too so I could make fire and cook there as well. If your mobile you need what you can carry. What ever kit you buy you need to familiarize and practise with it, when you need to use it is not the right time to read the instructions. I just do not understand why the USA allows electronic voting. It is wide open for fraud in so many ways.
Australia has a great system. A uniform system across the entire country, ENTIRELY paper i.e. there is a paper trail, observers from any political party are allowed to watch the counting process and submission of totals, everything is watched ENTIRELY IN THE OPEN at each voting centre, anyone can call into question a vote e.g. if it is illegible etc, it is put into a separate pile then at the end everyone there is given an opportunity to discuss the vote and agree on whether it should be included or not. It ends up being very cordial and nobody has any doubt the count is fair.
Apparently France has a very good system as well.

I just do not understand why the USA allows electronic voting. It is wide open for fraud in so many ways.
Australia has a great system. A uniform system across the entire country, ENTIRELY paper i.e. there is a paper trail, observers from any political party are allowed to watch the counting process and submission of totals, everything is watched ENTIRELY IN THE OPEN at each voting centre, anyone can call into question a vote e.g. if it is illegible etc, it is put into a separate pile then at the end everyone there is given an opportunity to discuss the vote and agree on whether it should be included or not. It ends up being very cordial and nobody has any doubt the count is fair.
Apparently France has a very good system as well.

I'm not sure whether we can call ourselves the Lucky Country anymore, I think that pretty much ended in the early 1990s I would say, as a result of stuff that started being implemented in the very late 1960s and then through the 1970s and early 1980s. We really had a pretty cohesive culture back in the day with a "fair go" for everyone (a term I've literally not heard anyone say for decades). By the early 1990s everything was in place to destroy Australia as it was.
It really has changed since then for the worse. But there are some things that are good (like every country). We seem to be as much a victim of Globalists like every Western nation.
